Leadership and Vision – Background Information / Documents
Continuous Improvement:
- District priorities are set through work sessions using data from S-CAP. Data from SSR visits will be analyzed at the building level by leadership teams. Building Leadership Teams will make recommendations to District Instructional Leadership. Administration and School board will use this data to create plans that will support our Strategic Priorities. Strategic Priorities will be addressed after each Comprehensive SSR visit.
Communication:
- At the district level we use a number of ways to communicate with the community and parents. Thrillshare (text/facebook/call/email), Infinite Campus, Class Dojo, Parent Square and the MVSD app are the primary forms of communication.
- School leaders and individual teachers use a variety of communication tools: monthly newsletters, MVSD App, Thrillshare, messaging systems like Class Dojo and Parent Square, Infinite Campus messaging, etc.
- All clubs, sports, and extra-curricular groups will begin using the Team Stack App or Parent Square for group communication.
- The district uses distributive leadership and follows a communication flow chart based on MTSS training. This guides us in creating stronger partnerships with our families and community and ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and involved. A variety of topics are discussed and reviewed consistently such as instructional time, early interventions, teacher quality, family engagement, professional development, etc. Meeting notes are kept for all groups for reference.
- Assessment data is housed and accessible to district staff in Otus. Teachers can also access data through the various assessment platforms such as NWEA, iStation, I-Ready, TS Gold, and PSAT/SAT.
- Otus also houses READ plans, RtI plans, Advanced Learning Plans, and 504’s.
Vision:
- The district vision/mission statements are guiding principles that were used to create our strategic priorities. These are the foundation that all decisions and policies are reviewed and adjustments are made. The communication plan referenced in the MTSS section is how the district leaders ensure that input from all stakeholders is included.
Board Leadership:
- We are fortunate that our school board believes in the strategic priorities and that they are an integral part in continuing the work that allows us to keep improving the things we believe to be most important for our students.
