Professional Learning – SSR Findings

| Strength Areas | Growth Areas |
|---|---|
| There is a strong culture of collaboration at each building and across buildings, including PLCS, and BLTs. There is regularly scheduled time for data reviews and curriculum alignment. Teachers value the 8 Collaboration Days and also spoke favorably of the two regional professional development days at Adams State. | More evidence is needed to demonstrate that data is used to determine professional learning priorities and to evaluate its effectiveness. There are many sources of data, including state assessment data, benchmark data, SWIS/discipline data, etc; however, there isn’t data available that demonstrates an improvement in teacher performance, student performance, or student learning dispositions. |
| Leadership supports professional learning, as demonstrated by the strong system of instructional coaching and peer coaching across the district. | Leadership transitions provide the district an opportunity to fully align professional learning practices across the buildings, such as common expectations for PLCs, data dives, and reviews of walkthrough data. |
| It seems more consistency is needed in the implementation of Capturing Kids Hearts. Implementation of non-negotiables varies from class to class and more evidence is needed to demonstrate this program’s impact on student outcomes (walkthrough data, behavior data, etc). | |
