Learning Communities:
- We have ‘Data Days’ that were designed around the strategies and methods from Driven by Data by Paul Bambrick-Santoyo. The Turnaround Leadership Program guided the elementary staff through this data process initially, then that was shared with and adopted by other buildings in the district.
- Data is collected and analyzed through data triangles and the four square organizer. Then to take it one step further, action plans are created to drive re-teaching and next steps.
- Here are templates for our quarterly Data Triangles and Action Plans
Professional Growth Plans:
- District Evaluation Process – this document includes the description of the process, dates for the 2025/2026 school year, and links to RANDA.
Resource Allocation:
- Monte Vista School District participates in the All-Valley PLC’s hosted by our local BOCES. During these two days, teacher leaders have opportunities to lead professional development amongst their peers. Educators are able to choose professional development sessions in order to meet their individual needs.
- All K-3 teachers receive a $500 stipend upon completion of the required online READ Act training.
- Each building is able to determine their professional learning needs for the following school year and that is built into the budget during the spring. Building Leadership Teams drive this work and help determine what is needed for staff. Individuals are encouraged to seek out professional learning opportunities and share with their teams.
Data Driven:
- The professional development stems from the action steps within the district priorities. We also use teacher survey data to determine their highest areas of need.
- The professional learning evaluation and needs surveys are utilized frequently. Also the BLT’s make recommendations based on teacher feedback to the Instructional Leadership team.
- Data gathered from the SSR as well as frequent communication between staff members and the BLT’s provide the Instructional leadership team with direction on how to appropriately plan PD. Surveys regarding new programs or strategies are given to teachers as well to determine next steps for instruction. Here is the common Professional Learning Evaluation used throughout the district so that the administration can gather feedback on the quality of any professional learning.
Evaluated:
- We began rating and evaluating professional development by feedback survey in 2020. Informal discussions happen during grade level teams, with instructional coaches, BLT’s, ILT, and with administration frequently but the intent is to formalize and gather more accurate data.
